Cookie policy

This page lists everything Fotolocals keeps in your browser: what each thing is called, what it is for and how long it lasts. There are four of them, and none is there to work out who you are.

We do not track you

There is no Google Analytics, no social pixel, no advertising identifier and no third-party script storing anything in your browser. We do not share or sell browsing data to anyone. That is why the list below is so short: it holds only what the site needs in order to work, and what remembers how you like to read it.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a very small text file a site keeps in your browser, and which the browser sends back on every visit. It exists to remember things from one page to the next —that you are signed in, for instance— because one request on its own knows nothing about the last. We also use the browser's local storage, which works the same way but is never sent to the server.

Exactly what we store

The names are literal: open your browser's developer tools and you will find these very keys.

Necessary

Without these the site cannot do its job: you could not stay signed in, and this notice could never stop appearing. They cannot be switched off from the site, though your browser can always delete them.

Keeps you signed in after you log into your account. It only exists once you have signed in, and it goes when you sign out. No account is needed to buy a photograph, so many visitors will never have it.

No script can read it: only the browser sends it and only the server reads it.

Remembers that you have seen this notice, so it is not shown again on every page. It stores only your answer —accepted or declined— and nothing else.

Preferences

These remember how you want to read the site. Deleting them costs you nothing: you get the default language and theme back.

Remembers which of the four languages you read the site in, so you are not sent back to the Catalan default every time you arrive.

themeLocal storageUntil you clear it

Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. It never leaves your browser.

Third parties

No third-party script runs on this site. Images and typefaces are served from our own infrastructure, and the emails we send carry no tracking pixels.

Paying is the one exception: when you buy a photograph or take out a membership, your browser goes to the Redsys terminal — your bank's payment gateway — where Redsys' cookies and policy apply rather than ours. We never see your card number. When you come back, you are here again.

Your choices

You can bring the notice back and change your answer whenever you like. Bear in mind that since nothing here tracks you, declining switches nothing off: it records that you did not agree, and the necessary cookies stay so that the site works.

You can also delete and block cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking them entirely still leaves the whole site readable, but you will not be able to sign in and this notice will come back every time.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add anything that stores something else in your browser, you will find it here before anywhere else, with the date above updated. The list above is not written by hand: it comes from the same code that writes the cookies, so it cannot fall out of date.

There is no legal department behind Fotolocals: write in, and the person who takes the photographs is the one who answers.
